The Lobster Landings Auction was a complete success! All the lobsters found new homes and the children and families of Pathways for Children greatly appreciate everyone who supported this event! The event raised more than $140,000, including $23K for our William Winfield Dyer Childcare Scholarship fund, all of which directly benefits the children served by Pathways. More information and photos will follow soon. Please see the individual lobster pages for the final winning bid amounts!

Beginning in the Summer of 2004, Cape Ann, a beautiful, remote jewel on the North Shore of Massachusetts, will be host to LOBSTER LANDINGS, Pathways for Children's Signature Event. Designed to raise local awareness of Pathways' services to Cape Ann's children, Lobster Landings is a series of gigantic lobsters painted by well-known local artists that will bring regional and national attention to Cape Ann's fishing and artistic communities while supporting Pathways' fundraising efforts. We expect the benefits to the community to be dramatic.

Similar events in other locales such as Boston, Chicago, Rockland, ME and Brandon, VT have captured the imagination and sense of fun among all of the participants including the artists, sponsors, community organizations, businesses, families and tourists. The result for the host community is an increase in tourism, which will have a positive impact on the local economy. In Chicago, for example, there was a reported $500 million in business to the city and approximately two to three million tourists during the time of "Cows on Parade."

The local and national attention that will be generated by media coverage of a startling display of magnificent crustaceans roaming around Cape Ann will raise awareness of our artistic and cultural treasures.

There are over one hundred community volunteers involved in making this event the best Cape Ann has ever seen. This number will grow exponentially as we get closer to labor day weekend, after which the lobsters will be readied for auction.

More than 100 Sponsors are supporting this event and Pathways for Children.

LOBSTER LANDINGS will culminate in September with a fundraising auction to find new homes for the stunning crustaceans.

By highlighting one of Cape Ann's most prominent assets - the lobster - this exciting event will serve to support the children of Cape Ann, our greatest natural resource.
