Young Families Initiative Program
Care and support for teen parents and their children is provided at Gloucester High School as well as our Emerson Avenue center in Gloucester. Goals of the program include fostering parenting skills, and helping the teen parent complete high school. While their infants are provided with early education, the program builds self-esteem, promotes life goal-setting, and provides education, tutoring, and a support network for these young parents. Eligibility guidelines apply, program free to eligible students.

Head Start Program
Comprehensive early education and care for low-income pre-schoolers with a variety of full day/full year and part day/part year options available. Promotes strong parental involvement and school readiness skills. Children and families receive comprehensive services at sites in Rockport and Gloucester. Income guidelines apply and determine eligibility, although there are some openings for families whose incomes fall above the guidelines. Program free to those who qualify.

School Age Care
After school care for children from kindergarten to age twelve is provided in Gloucester. Care is also provided during school vacations and summer, with a recreational focus. Specialized care for a limited number of children with behavioral issues is also available through referral from the Department of Social Services. Sliding fee scale.

Family Child Care
A network of home-based, early education for infants, toddlers and preschoolers, from birth to age six. Quality care in nurturing home environments promotes a sense of belonging, building effective social skills, early literacy skills and confidence. A few homes also accept children after school.
