Volunteer & Intern Opportunities

One of the greatest gifts you can give is your time.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering or interning at Pathways. Your time and talent enrich our programs, support our teachers, and open possibilities for our children and families.

Volunteer Opportunities

  • Classroom Aide

Students and teachers benefit from having additional support in the classroom. While classrooms vary, activities might include reading time, help with art and science projects, play yard monitoring, help cleaning, field trip support and more. You will be matched with a classroom that best complements your interests and skills.

Must be willing to commit to a minimum one-hour shift weekly, for 3-6 months or more. Volunteers must participate in one orientation session before beginning service.

  • Special Projects/Events Support

If you are organized and enjoy helping with mailings, filing, archiving or other office duties, we welcome the support. Or, do you prefer to be out and about, supporting special events and outreach opportunities? Let us know! Hours vary based on need. Please contact us for available opportunities.

Please note, the minimum volunteer hour requirement is not applicable in this capacity.

  • Counselor in Training

The Counselor in Training (CIT) Program is an educational program for high school students ages 16 and up. Participants will be assigned to support Pathways’ after-school program for children ages 5-12 during the school year.

    o Learn hands-on in a classroom setting

    o Develop leadership skills

    o Explore career possibilities

    o Build relationships and self-confidence

o Stipend offered upon completion of the program for eligible students

  • Family Service Volunteer

In addition to early education programs, we offer a wide variety of family support services that engage caregivers. Volunteer opportunities include:

o Become a Parent Mentor and bring your experience as a caregiver to others who can benefit from your knowledge and support. You will be paired one-on-one with someone in search of that supportive guidance.

o Assist with family programs, such as the Nurturing Program or Parent Connection, by assisting with childcare/serving meals.

o Provide additional support during parent/child playgroups.

  • Literacy Program

Through book fairs and other activities, the Literacy Program focuses on the development of reading skills in young children and promotes the importance of literacy in life. Literacy not only enriches an individual’s life but creates confidence, empowerment and access to opportunity.

  • Group Volunteering

Looking for a group opportunity for your workplace or school? From book drives to one-time projects, we might have an opportunity for your team! Please contact Kathy Wilson, Volunteer Coordinator at kwilson@pw4c.org for more information.

  • Skill Builder

Do you have a unique skill or talent you’d like to share with Pathways? Examples include dance instructors, juggling teachers, musicians and more. We will be happy to connect with you to discuss possible opportunities!

Internships at Pathways

Thank you for your interest in Student Internships at Pathways!

The Pathways Internship Program is designed for students 16+ who are currently enrolled in either high-school or college educational programs requiring an internship. Under supervision, participants in the program will support, assist, and be active contributors in a classroom environment, while gaining valuable experience in the field of early childhood education and development.
