In addition to quality early education and care for children, what makes Pathways unique is the variety and abundance of family support services offered throughout our programs.
At Pathways, we believe that parents are their child’s first and most important teacher. Our goal is to provide support to parents of children in our programs in order for them to be the best they can be in their critical role.
Research has shown a correlation between children’s success in their educational setting and the degree of involvement of their parents, so we make a variety of opportunities available - there is something for everyone! Fathers and other significant males in our children’s lives are always invited and encouraged to participate in Pathways activities.
Pathways for Children has a Social Service Department that includes Licensed Social Workers, Behavior Specialists and a Family Involvement Specialist who work toward the goal of involving parents and families in ways that are supportive and enriching for all. Parents are always welcome to visit their child’s program and to discuss their progress with the teachers and other support staff. Opportunities are available for parents to volunteer and accompany classrooms on field trips. Parent Center Meetings and Parent Policy Council are other ways to become involved. The Social Service Department also offers parent education and support groups throughout the school year. Many of the staff trainings held throughout the year - on such topics as literacy, health and mental health issues, and how to handle challenging behaviors in children - are also open to parents.
We value having family fun time as well, and periodically schedule curriculum nights for families to visit their child’s classroom, talent shows, and family entertainment events. Make sure you read the monthly parent newsletter for notice of upcoming events. The Community Resource Guide is updated annually and contains a wealth of information about local resources on Cape Ann. You can also refer to our Parent Handbook for more program information, policies and additional services that Pathways has to offer.
The Social Service Department can also assist family members to access other services that might benefit their child and family. We can assist with making referrals for counseling, special education services, and emergency assistance. Holiday assistance is another way that Pathways’ Social Service Department is ready to help.

Pathways enjoys the support of the greater Cape Ann Community where volunteers are frequent visitors to our classrooms to provide a helping hand or a fresh outlook.

Classroom teaching staff provide rich environments for after school learning opportunities from kindergarten through age 13.
