Amy Smith, Board Vice-President, The Resolution Center

Amy Smith has been a communication practitioner for over 20 years. Working in the communication field, she believes in the principles of mediation as a way for interested parties to work together toward finding resolution. Amy is a Professor of Media & Communication at Salem State University and holds graduate degrees in Media and Communication, and a graduate certificate in Women & Gender Studies. Amy’s research focuses on the overlap between leadership skills and community building. Her books, Tracing Family Lines (2012) and Crafting Community (2024), have been received well by both academic and layperson audiences, and her 2019 TedTalk about garment-making was simultaneously one of the most terrifying and rewarding experiences in her professional career.
