About Us

Family Recovery Support (FRS) is a community‑rooted program dedicated to helping children and families impacted by substance use across Essex County. We believe that every family deserves the opportunity to rise, rebuild, and thrive—and that strong communities play a vital role in that journey.

Grounded in trust, connection, and compassion, we meet families where they are. Our team provides respectful, judgment‑free support designed to strengthen healing, resilience, and long‑term stability. Through parent and caregiver programs, peer support, kinship services, and neighborhood‑based resources, we work alongside families to create pathways toward recovery and well‑being.

Family Recovery Support is built on a simple belief: when families rise, communities rise with them.

Who We Serve

  • Parents and caregivers affected by substance use

  • Children experiencing the ripple effects of substance use

Our Approach

Community‑Driven

We work with local neighborhoods—not just in them—to ensure families feel connected, supported, and respected.

Strength‑Based

We build on families’ existing strengths, culture, and resilience.

Trauma‑Informed

Our team prioritizes dignity, emotional safety, and healing‑centered engagement.

Why It Matters

Families affected by opioids and other substances face complex emotional, financial, and relational challenges. By providing consistent, culturally grounded support, Family Recovery Support helps reduce stress, strengthen protective relationships, and promote healthier, more resilient communities throughout Essex County.

You can hide from the sun, but it won’t take you personally. It´ll never, ever punish you for hiding. You can stay in the dark for years or decades, and when you finally step outside, it´ll be there.
